I went and see the new Harry Potter flick on Christmas night. I was a bit underwhelmed by most of the film (and by the book, to be honest) but one high spot was the animation sequence involving the deathly hallows. Dale Newton, a designer for Framestore, posted some of the concept art for the Death character.
When I finish a draft of something, like a story or novel, it usually goes through three or four revisions before I’ll even consider telling someone the title.
But I don’t think about that process as its applied to art. I like to draw stuff, but usually give up after one or two crappy doodles, frustrated with the inability of my fine motor skills to replicate the brilliant image in my head. Once I did manage, however, to draw my dad’s face on a piece of toast flying out of a toaster. It stayed on the fridge for a couple of years. I wish I still had it now.
Be sure to check out Dale’s post in its entirety. It’s better than Toast-Face-Dads.
